About Pietro
Hi, I'm Pietro Fauno Finizio, a bass player, composer and arranger based in Glasgow where I studied and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Jazz from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I've been playing bass for over twenty years and teaching for the last thirteen; I love to do it and as a musician I can benefit myself from teaching to others. I welcome students of all ages and levels. I am experienced in many genres such as Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Funk and I offer electric bass, double bass, theory, Jazz harmony, arranging and notation with Sibelius lessons. In 2019 I founded the band Pélagos, a ten-piece ensemble for which I compose and arrange music inspired by musical atmospheres from across the Mediterranean area. This project is a re-imagining of those exotic sounds, according to a variety of influences which span mostly, but not only, through Jazz, Rock and Third Stream, and end up creating an imaginative blend of written and improvised music.

My tuition is tailored to each pupil's goals and any previous experience they may have. Aside to a gradual approach to music theory, since the beginning I encourage my students use their favourite music in order to identify, analyse and expand upon the subjects covered throughout the lessons. I provide pupils with a personal and practical approach to theory and harmony, which helps them develop their own musical expression and overcome the gap between theory and practice.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I studied with Pietro at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He was two years ahead and helped me by playing for several recitals. It was great working with such an experienced and reliable guy. He's fun and incredibly knowledgeable. In addition to being a very gifted bass player, he's also a talented arranger and composer. He is very generous with his time and always helpful. He's a very considerate and communicative educator and I'd recommend him to you whether you're a beginner and interested in time, tone and technique, or if you're advanced and interested in theory, arranging and composition.
Pietro is a hard working, driven, passionate and experienced musician and teacher with over 15 years expierence both performing and teaching music and music theory to a wide variety of ages and skill levels.
I’ve worked alongside Pietro for the past 5 years and his attitude and professionalism has always been exemplarily- turning up prepared, on time and having learned the music and ready to tackle the task at hand.Pietro is a nice example of human being, really friendly and extrovert.
He’s a complete musician, highly trained in music theory and seasoned by many live shows.
An all-inclusive teacher for everyone, both novices and advance musicians who want to dig deeper into theory.
I personally needed a boost for my fingers play as I came from a different music background and with his teaching I managed to loosen up my playing a lot.I have been a student of Pietro's for 2 years now and would highly recommend him as an insightful, knowledgeable music tutor. In addition to this his patience and clear explanation of complex musical ideas allows difficult topics to be understood. All the lessons have been supplemented with well structured lesson material to be studied between lessons.
