About Saxon
Studying can be hard and overwhelming - I get that! I struggled too, but I have managed to nail down some great techniques that make learning biology and other sciences so much more enjoyable.
I've now completed my Biology degree at the University of British Columbia, and have covered a really wide range of topics, such as Genetics, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Ecology, Conservation and many more!

I would love to teach elementary, middle and highschoolers. I've studied biology all through my schooling (GCSEs, IB, BSc). I have found the best way to really grasp a subject is to break it down into terms you understand. It also depends on the topic - for example, genetics requires doing practice problems, while anatomy is best remembered using active recall (e.g. flashcards). Studying science can be tricky, so I will try to recommend some strategies then find the best one for each student.
A typical lesson plan would begin by identifying areas which need extra work that the student is finding tricky. Once we've done this, I will attempt to break it down or rephrase until an understanding is reached. Then extra practice and recall to solidify the learning!
What will set me apart is that I am still young and truly understand the struggles of studying! I have experience with many software's or techniques currently being used in schools so will be able to work with a wide variety of students.

Perfect! My son was not keeping up with grade 12 anatomy and physiology class due to ADD. Since Saxon has been tutoring him daily, he’s passing every test with an A. This has never been the case in any class before. As far as I can tell, Saxon is very punctual and able to maintain good rapport with my teenager.
