About Amy

As a recent Higher Biology Student, I understand how students learn from a personal standpoint. My experience as a student has allowed me to gain an insight into how I preferred to be taught and which methods worked best not just for me but for my fellow classmates. Higher biology can be a difficult course but by understanding the basis of it, it can be one of the most interesting subjects. My passion for biology and for helping others pass Biology is why I became a tutor.

About the lesson

My online lessons focus on understanding the key material needed for the exam as well as focusing on active learning. In my experience, there is not simply a one for all method for learning. Which is why I use a variety of mind maps, PowerPoints, diagrams and detailed explanations and flowcharts in order to make the information as clear and memorable as possible. Mnemonics and various other quirky alliterations are what got me through my highers and I will be sharing these during sessions. These sessions can be relaxed and informal, leading to a more friendly and comfortable environment rather than feeling as though you are sat in a boring lecture. My Tutor sessions offer variety and in-depth explanations on all key areas as well as assistance in the final project which can be a difficult challenge involving self-directed experiments and write-ups. As well as covering biology essay writing and difficult maths problem-solving questions which can be tedious and difficult to get the hang of.
