About Allison
Hi there, I'm Allie! I am a recent UCLA graduate with a B.A. in English Literature. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.98 GPA, and therefore understand the effort and knowledge—in addition to the inevitable trials and tribulations—that constitutes academic success. Beyond the classroom, I worked as a fiction editor for UCLA's Westwind Journal. This experience furthered the development of my critical eye, attention to detail, and ability to communicate my thoughts and suggestions with others. I was additionally part of the Undergraduate English Honors Program, where I wrote a 60-page undergraduate thesis that I am currently fine-tuning with concluding edits. From 2 pages to 60, I have spent enough time writing to understand that each paper presents its own difficulties and frustrations. For me, outside help—whether it be from professors, tutors, or peers—was essential in finding success and taking pride in my work. In my time as a tutor, I hope to give the same guidance to anyone who may need it.

I structure my sessions according to the particular needs and expectations of each client, so every lesson varies. In fact, I recommend that my clients message me beforehand to provide any relevant details regarding their work and what they hope to address in our time together. Of course, I am also more than happy to work with information given at the start of our meeting, and am always open to whatever best suits my client. Beyond this individualized approach, I understand the requirements, specifications, and overall objective structure of a well-written essay, and aim to communicate this understanding with any students who may need it. Even more, I have handouts from high school and college educators that outline common grading rubrics and expectations, which I will gladly pass on to my clients. And while I will certainly impart the most essential elements of successful academic papers, I know that any growth as a writer and student extends far beyond such teachings. As someone with a learning disability (ADHD), I believe that patience, compassion, and understanding are key components of the learning process, and always aim to ensure that my clients feel seen and heard. As such, I understand that many individuals learn differently, and that these differences should be worked with rather than against.
