About James
My name is James, and as a recent high school graduate I bring a relatable approach where I have a strong understanding of what students are going through. I achieved strong results, particularly in mathematics, which sparked my passion for helping others succeed and led me to pursue a teaching degree at university. Alongside my academic background, I bring experience in coaching and peer mentorship, which has helped me develop strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. I strive to create a supportive and professional learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and confident in their abilities and most of all enjoy what they are doing.

I take a student-centered approach to tutoring, focusing on building both understanding and confidence by adapting each lesson to suit the student’s individual learning style and pace. I am currently studying teaching at university, which keeps me up to date with effective learning strategies, and I bring additional experience from my background in coaching and peer mentorship, where I’ve developed strong communication and support skills. Lessons are typically around one hour, but I’m flexible depending on the student’s needs and workloads at any given time. I offer tutoring for school-aged students of all levels up to VCE General Maths, and I’m flexible with scheduling as well as offering sessions either in person or online to suit each student.

I wasn't too sure if tutoring was for me, but after my lessons with James, I could not recommend it more. Unlike many tutors who are smart but struggle to communicate and actually teach the content, James has amazing teaching skills and is so easy to understand and communicate with, as well as holding so much knowledge!
Genuinely has helped me grow more confidence in my abilities than I could have imagined. His calm approach and guidance through great communication skills is so good. The results have been shown in my school assessment and I can't wait to see how much more I can improve.
