About Katya
I grew up in Mauritius, where I went to a French primary school which is what inspired my passion for the language and culture from a young age. Thereafter I went to high school in South Africa, where I have experience teaching children Maths and sport.
Having recently graduated from university, I am sad to not be continually immersed in French culture and language, and teaching French therefore not only provides the opportunity to do so, but also to help other people enjoy it in the same way that I do.

I believe there are two aspects to effectively learning a language - firstly the foundation in terms of grammar. Getting that right initially provides the pathway for the second part: confidence. The combination of these two leads to fluency, and hence focusing on understanding the grammar and then building confidence through speaking practice, vocabulary and pronunciation.
I have experience teaching Maths and sports to children in South Africa, and am keen to apply that to French. I am flexible in terms of lesson times, depending on your individual schedule, goals and workload.
