About Coco
I am a 19-year-old university student, who has been looking to continue music teaching after leaving school. During my GCSE year and sixth form time I volunteered in my school music department teaching music theory and running instrumental groups, giving me three years of experience in which i learned teaching methods and effective techniques from highly qualified musicians and teachers. The success of the pupils I taught during Sixth Form has pushed me to want to tutor more throughout university, whether it be theory, violin, or GCSE music.

For teaching music theory I would focus on techniques that allow tutees to understand rather than just memorise the information needed for grade 5 theory. These lessons centre around understanding both the content of the course the structure of the papers themselves, and would involve going through papers in lessons and ones that the tutees have completed between lessons.
With regards to GCSE music, again I would focus tightly on the core content of the course. For set works we would working on listening and comparative skills that are essential for succeeding on the paper, for composition, I would provide tips and suggestions of how to improve both free and guided compositions.
Violin lessons would be structured depending on the starting standard of the pupil, and whether they are working towards completing exams.
