About Luke
Away from school I read widely, especially the classics (Dostoevsky is a constant), and I watch a lot of film. I like ideas worked out on the page or on screen. That habit is what I bring to a student’s essay: attention to how a text is built, not just what it is “about.”

About the lesson

Sessions are 60 minutes and run online. Come with the assessment task, a draft, or the set text. We spend the hour on the work itself: argument, structure, textual evidence, control of voice, and the demands of the relevant syllabus outcome or exam paper.
I am a registered English teacher with fifteen years’ classroom experience having taught for twelve in NSW and three in Queensland, including Advanced and General English. I teach to both the NSW and QCE syllabuses and mark the way senior work is actually assessed, not as a generic writing coach.
The core of the practice is Years 10–12, particularly QCE General English internal assessments and the external examination. I also work with Years 6–9 where the need is analytical writing, creative control, or more precise reading.
Drafts can be sent between lessons. I will annotate them outside session time so the next hour is spent improving the piece, not reading it together from a cold start.
