• When did you develop an interest in your subject and in private tutoring?

  My passion for architecture began in Grade 11 at John Vorster Technical High School,where I first encountered civil engineering and graphic design as my subjects. Immersed in the world of technical and creative disciplines, I found myself captivated by the built environment and its possibilities. By my matric year, this fascination had solidified into a clear ambition, leading me to enroll at Tshwane University of Technology. In 2016, I embarked on my BTech in Architecture, a four-year journey that I completed in 2019. The program deepened my understanding and further fueled my passion for the field. Motivated by my experiences and eager to expand my expertise, I pursued a Master’s degree, beginning in 2020 and finishing in 2022. This educational path not only honed my skills but also reinforced my commitment to shaping inspiring and functional spaces.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I enjoy engaging in discussions about design and take great pleasure in explaining the ArchiCAD program to my students. As an essential tool in my daily work, ArchiCAD plays a central role in my architectural designs. While I actively support students with their
  learning and practical skills, I typically refrain from directly assisting with their thesis projects. Instead, I advise them to seek guidance from their mentors and consult experienced professionals for proofreading and editing. This approach ensures they receive specialized feedback tailored to their unique research and academic needs.

• Did you have any role models? Perhaps a teacher that inspired you?

  My role model is my dad, who works in the construction industry. His dedication and hard work have profoundly influenced me, and I’ve learned so much from his example. His commitment to his craft and his success have inspired me to emulate his work ethic
  and strive for excellence in my own career. I aspire to follow in his footsteps and achieve success with the same determination and perseverance he has demonstrated.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Building a strong relationship with students and assessing our compatibility is essential. I take advantage of the 1st free lesson to discuss their topics and determine if I am well suited to support their needs. As a tutor, I am committed to adapting to each student's
  unique requirements. Patience and active listening are key to understanding their perspectives and helping them succeed.

• Share an anecdote related to your subject or your schooldays.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing at school?

  Continuous Learning. Even with a degree, real-world tasks in the field often present challenges that go beyond what was taught in school. I embrace the fact that learning is a daily process, and making mistakes is an essential part of growth. Each error provides valuable lessons and opportunities for improvement, driving me to continually refine my skills and knowledge. In this ever-evolving field, staying current with industry standards and committing to ongoing learning are crucial for personal and professional development. By embracing this mindset, I strive to become the best version of myself.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, an element of this particular subject, or something completely different?

  My passion lies in supporting and guiding students and individuals wherever I can. This drive extends into my professional life, where I see passion as the key to unlocking creativity and innovation in architecture. My goal is to harness this passion to excel in
  my career, continually pushing boundaries and inspiring others along the way.
