Allowing students to role play any real-life (or fictional!) situation is a fantastic way to get them to use French in this way and then let them act it out. For example, one possible scenario would be for students to go shopping for food (with presentation) but not just one stop at the grocery store. This helps them review the vocabulary for different kinds of shops (l’épicerie, la boulangerie, la boucherie, le supermarché, etc.), kinds of foods (le pain, la viande, le lait,etc...). Learning by basic conversation is also a good method to retain certain necessary skills that will be used everyday in any situation. Useful terms and fundamental phrases are really what the beginning of another language should cover i.e. Quel est ton nom? Ou vas-tu? J'ai besoin d'aide/Où est la rue Principale? As-tu faim? Quel âge as-tu? etc..
