About Karina
Hello! I am a rising sophomore in college studying engineering and have had experience tutoring since senior year of high school. I have studied up to Calculus III, so I have developed a passion and admiration for math that I would love to extend to you. I used to struggle with math a lot, so as a tutor, I know how to explain things in simpler terms, study for math tests, improve grades after a few sessions. My clients have always expressed an increase in confidence, skills, and ability after tutoring sessions.

My teaching method is to go over a variety of example problems for any concept the student is having trouble grasping. I explain the concept in simple, less complicated terms and show how the concept can get more difficult through practice problems. I do not do problems for students, I help them work through the math themselves. A typical lesson plan includes explanation of the concept, leading the student through practice problems, addressing questions, and then asking the student to explain a concept or problem to me as if they are tutoring me. What sets me apart as a tutor is that I am down to earth and make it clear that tutoring sessions are me and the student working together to tackle a concept or math problem instead of the student being the only one working on math. In simpler terms, I make learning a collaborative experience in order to boost the confidence of the student. I find that most students I have worked with just need more confidence when tackling math problems. My lessons are for students in grades ranging from 5th-12th grade.
