I use a lot of visual cues in my teaching. As a student it’s helped me retain a lot of information this way. All my notes and teaching use different colours, diagrams, fonts and symbols in order to help students store more information in long term memory.
I like to break up difficult concepts. I believe in order to undertand something very complicated, it is essential to learn the basics. Without that students will never be able to see the bigger picture and therefore lose interest.
I like to discuss more than lecture. That way it’s more interactive and it gives me an opportunity to assess the knowledge of the student and teach them according to their level of intelligence and ability to grasp ideas. Everyone is different, so my teaching is going to change from person to person.
I graduated Med school this year. I have plenty of experience tutoring my friends and classmates on medical topics. I have half a year experience in tutoring psychology. My friends love my notes, posters and flash cards which I do as a hobby. Eveyone I have taught ask for more lessons and encourage me to take up teaching as well. I have got good reviews in the past and I do feel I’m a good tutor myself and I do enjoy it.
