About Tegan
I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others understand and enjoy science. Throughout medical school so far, I have really enjoyed working with my peers to explain concepts and tackle difficult topics together, and I believe that working on a personal, one-to-one level helps solidify understanding even more. I also know from my own experience how transformative tutoring can be — when I had a tutor for A-level Psychology and GCSE Maths, it boosted my confidence and made complex concepts much clearer. Now, having progressed through biomedical science, neuroscience research, and medical training, I want to use my knowledge and experience to support students in the same way. Teaching allows me to make challenging topics accessible, tailor lessons to each individual, and see students gain confidence and succeed - which is incredibly rewarding.

I strongly believe that private tutoring is most effective when it is genuinely personal. I take time to understand how each student learns, where they feel least confident, and what they want to achieve. Having progressed through biomedical science, postgraduate research, and now medical training, I know that everyone finds different aspects of science challenging. I also had a private tutor myself during A-level Psychology and GCSE Maths, which I found invaluable — it helped me build confidence, develop effective study strategies, and understand concepts in a way that classroom teaching alone couldn’t provide. This experience shapes how I tutor: structured but flexible sessions, clear explanations, active questioning, and a supportive, pressure-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and develop lasting understanding rather than relying on memorisation.
