After over 15 years of education and training to become a scientist, I earned my Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of California, San Francisco this past June. Most of my training is in applying the scientific method for discovery. I also learned how to turn this process into a story for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Beyond this, I had experience as a graduate student teaching and mentoring others, whether it was tutoring AP High School Biology or teaching other graduate students more advanced topics like the limits of our understanding of transcription and translation. I enjoy working with the whole spectrum of age groups and backgrounds, and I believe my experience as a science communicator and actor make me especially skilled at meeting students where they are at and presenting knowledge in a way that is accessible, fun, and most importantly effective. My approach is customized to each learner's needs but, like a good scientist, I follow the data! That means testing your newly acquired knowledge in ways that are directly helpful for the type of exams you expect to take. I deeply enjoy talking about science and working with learners to get them excited about science and math!
