About Georgina
I am an ambitious and personable individual with experience in several areas, particularly within a scientific setting. I achieved 10 A/A* at GCSE and went on to study Psychology, Philosophy, Maths and Biology at A-Level. As a second-year undergraduate BSc Human Biology student, my academic reading skills, digital skills, communication skills ie. group work and presentations, data handling (R studio) have all developed greatly. I am also confident in lab work including Microscopy, and Sterile Technique & Inoculating Plates. Outside of the lab, I am a course representative and faculty representative for my department and also work to achieve other qualifications. The balance of my children and work commitments have equipped me with determination to do well and this is hopefully reflected in my 70%+ grades and recognition within my department.
With my skill-set and scientific knowledge, I hope to inspire other young people to pursue studies within a biology background and equip them with all they need to know on how to be successful! I hope to encourage to students to explore the breadth biology has to offer, and appreciate all aspects of life.

My teaching method is based on giving students an understanding of concepts. Too often students are expected to remember facts which are quickly forgotten after an exam.
One thing that has benefited myself is getting to grips with a concept - starting basic and working up, ensuring every level of learning is properly understood. Successful homework tasks, and in-class tasks will be reflective of understanding. In addition, self-learning is very important. Whilst tutors and teachers alike are both necessary to facilitate learning, an element of engagement needs to come from the student.
