About Sara

Hi, my name is Sara, and I am a second-year medical student at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. I graduated high school in 2025 and have been tutoring for the past three years, both privately and through my high school’s tutoring center.

I scored in the 99th percentile on the SAT and maintained a strong GPA throughout high school, so I understand what it takes to succeed academically while balancing a busy schedule. I enjoy working with students one-on-one and tailoring my approach to fit each student’s learning style, whether I help them online or in person.

I am available to tutor all school subjects, as well as SAT/ACT prep, college essay writing, and application support. I can also help students stay organized, create study plans, and improve their overall academic skills.

Reference letters are available upon request. My rates are reasonable and flexible, so please feel free to reach out if you are interested or have any questions!

About the lesson

My teaching style is personalized, supportive, and focused on helping each student truly understand the material rather than just memorize it. I believe every student learns differently, so I adjust each lesson based on the student’s goals, strengths, weaknesses, and learning style.

A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to see what the student is currently working on, what they feel confident about, and what they are struggling with. From there, I review the main concepts, break them down into simpler steps, and work through examples with the student. I like to ask questions throughout the lesson to make sure they are actively thinking and not just watching me solve problems. After guided practice, I have the student try problems or tasks on their own while I give feedback and correct mistakes in a helpful way.

For test prep, I focus on both content and strategy. This includes reviewing high-yield topics, teaching time-management techniques, practicing real-style questions, and helping students recognize patterns in the exam.

For essays and applications, I help students brainstorm, organize their ideas, strengthen their writing, and make their voice sound clear, polished, and authentic.

My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I want students to leave each session not only with a better understanding of the subject, but also with stronger study habits, more confidence, and a clear plan for what to work on next. I’ve taken classes many high level math and science courses such as Honors Geometry, algebra 1 & 2, Precalc, Biology, and Chemistry
