About Alfred
I’ve taught many different subjects for all ages. I taught computer programming and helped students build robots. I served as a chess coach, science fair advisor, Kangaroo math coach, and math Olympiad coach. I’ve taught every math class there ever was between grade 6 and 12. And I dedicated 25 years of my educational career to teaching children. I have tutored students online for about 3 years. Currently, I work with a non-profit in Mexico that prepares students for jobs in the maritime industry and IT profession.

My approach translates abstract math into tangible experiences. I can use tools like geoboards to model spatial reasoning and algebra tiles to represent equations and factoring.
I build upon a foundation of physical representation and help students transition from basic tactile problem solve to complex, symbolic mathematics. I can apply the same problem-solving foundation to discrete math, probability, and geometry, giving students the tools to visualize and solve complex, real-world problems. My teaching methods encourage interest and critical thinking.
