My Approach as a Tutor
I am a secondary science teacher based in Canada with a degree in kinesiology and a minor in biology. I recently spent a year teaching in the UK, where I taught secondary students aged 11–18 across biology, chemistry, and physics. This experience allowed me to adapt to different learning styles and curriculum requirements, while building strong classroom management and lesson-planning skills.
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
My lessons are interactive and student-focused, blending clear explanations with questioning techniques, hands-on activities, and real-life examples that make science easier to understand. I aim to build both knowledge and confidence, tailoring each session to the needs of the student.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a short review of prior knowledge to identify strengths and gaps. I then introduce the new topic with step-by-step explanations, using diagrams, analogies, or short demonstrations to deepen understanding. Students practice through guided exercises (problem-solving, whiteboard work, or application questions), and we finish with a summary task or mini-assessment to consolidate learning.
What Sets Me Apart
What makes me stand out is my international teaching experience and ability to connect science to real-world applications through my background in kinesiology and biology. I create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and confidence.
Who My Lessons Are For
I provide lessons for secondary school students (ages 11–18), including those preparing for high school exams, GCSEs, or students needing extra support in biology and general science.
