About Lisandra
Art has always been part of my life, but I didn't call myself an artist for the longest time. I always thought that to be an artist I needed to follow one specific path, something that I could not do, but now I can see that I was an artist all along.
One of my first memories from childhood was learning how to paint a flower on a piece of cloth with my aunt. As a child, I was extremely creative and curious, I used to draw my own characters on a piece of paper, cut their silhouette and play with them all day, creating stories. However, as a teenager, I found myself doubting my potential and comparing myself to others. Many times I heard that I should do this or that, that I needed to learn a, b, c... and at some point, I quit.
It wasn't until almost 10 years later, when COVID hit, that I finally gave art another try. Started by playing around with some watercolors from my housemate, and realized I actually loved painting. From there, I couldn't stop anymore, experimenting with whatever materials I could find, filling up my wall with hundreds of art pieces. Every time I wanted to do something and didn't know how, I would find a way to learn it, either by some quick tutorial on the internet or trial and error. But whenever I would try to enroll in a formal course, my motivation for art would go down like a ball in a steep hill.
That's how I realized that art for me was not about doing things the proper way, but doing it my own way. And that's what I now want to teach. Learning is not linear, and I am sure I can help you to learn anything you want to.

I didn't learn art the traditional way. As a self-taught artist, my instincts came before the foundations and that helped me to have a free approach to experiment with art and express myself without the need to fit in a box.
My classes are tailored to each student and their unique interests, rather than following a framework. I teach students to feel before they create.
Techniques include:
- Color theory: Understand colors beyond the color wheel.
- Shape and form: Everything is made of shapes, you just have to train your eyes to see it.
- Perspective and depth: It's less complicated than it looks, once you learn to follow simple guides.
- Creative materials: Art is about problem-solving and sometimes you can find ways to use additional tools to reach the results you want.
This is not a traditional art class, my goal is to help students that struggle with the "common art path" to fall in love with their art, the same way that I did.
Average classes will be 1h long, but that can be tailored to each student's need. More than one student at a time is also acceptable.
