About Joey

In high school I picked up a guitar class, which was the best thing I believe I ever did. I was already slightly advanced, but I tried not to enter into it cocky because I feel as if there’s always something to learn. My teacher, Mr. T, paired me with second year students who have already taken the class before. Although I had a few years of self taught experience under my belt by the time I came in, I could not believe how truly good the second year students were. They were faster, knew their way around the fretboard, and seemed to just be in their element. This is the time I started learning music theory, and learning from a person changes everything compared to teaching yourself. From that point on I took years of music theory classes, and it was hard but it was so doable.

About the lesson

When I was 12 I had picked up a guitar for the first time and I had no idea where to start. Luckily I was born into an era where YouTube is a source available at all of our fingertips which is amazing, but it absolutely does not compare to 1 on 1 interaction with another person. Throughout the 10 years I’ve been playing now I’ve picked up a lot of experience, at first it was slow, but as I learned how to teach myself I’ve learned how to teach others. I love music, and love sharing whatever I have to know, being able to help is very important to me.
