About Gareth
My name is Gareth and I am a highly creative person with ADHD. I went through school, not knowing, why I struggled to learn and sit still at times. I was called a 'chatterbox' by my teachers who also didn't know better. Fortunately, times have changed and there is more understanding now of people with different learning needs. I am passionate about helping young people to thrive in education and beyond and have spent a lot of my working life so far in schools and colleges doing just this. In my spare time, I make art in lots of different forms and love the outdoors.

My core aim with teaching is to make small, positive steps towards learning goals. To make difficult tasks more manageable by breaking them down and removing the 'overwhelm' that can often happen for those with additional learning needs. I also like to bring humour and perspective to the teaching relationship. Too often, school work and results can be put on a pedestal, instead of focusing on the 'process' of learning and making education a lifelong, enjoyable pathway. The length of the session is dependent on the student but usually 45-60 minutes works best. 1st session (30 mins) is Free. I am particularly interested in working with students (11-16) with additional learning needs or who identify as neurodivergent but am happy to support anyone who feels they could benefit from my approach. My Qualifications / Experience ------------------------------------- 10+ years in SEN units in secondary schools providing one-to-one and group support Foundation Degree in Creative Arts Therapies Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills A-Level Maths, Chemistry & Physics
