About Sam

I’m a Senior Manager with a background in business analysis, analytics and strategic planning, and almost five years of management experience.
I’m also a certified STAR Manager and STAR Coach, with formal training in developing people through effective coaching and management conversations.
I’ve progressed from working as an individual contributor to leading teams, developing people and influencing senior-level business decisions.
Developing others has become one of the parts of management I enjoy most. Over the past three years, three people from my teams have progressed into management roles themselves, and I’m proud to have supported them through coaching, feedback and their wider development.
I want to use that experience to support people at earlier stages of their careers, particularly analysts looking to progress, aspiring managers preparing for their first leadership role, and new managers finding their own approach to leadership.
I bring experience rather than theory alone. I understand many of the challenges involved in career progression and people management because I’ve worked through them myself, and I enjoy helping others think through their own challenges and opportunities.

About the lesson

My mentoring sessions are personalised, conversational and focused on you and what you want to achieve. I work particularly well with analysts, aspiring managers and new managers who want to develop their careers, broaden their thinking and become more effective leaders.
Sessions can explore career progression, moving into management, leadership development, stakeholder management, communication and influence, strategic and commercial thinking, interview preparation, or simply a challenge or decision you’re currently working through.
I believe the best coaching conversations should be free-flowing rather than following a rigid formula. I’ll listen, ask questions, challenge your thinking where appropriate and share my own experience when it can add value. The direction of each session will depend on you, your goals and what would be most useful at that point in your career.
Whether you’re aiming for your first management role, finding your feet as a new manager or considering your next career move, I can offer an independent perspective and a space to think things through.
