About Katy

I am a senior finance and commercial leader with more than a decade of experience working within a major UK organisation.

My professional responsibilities span contracts, claims, credit management, accounts receivable, commercial risk, stakeholder relationships and team leadership. I work in an environment where effective leadership requires clear judgement, accountability, professionalism and the ability to balance people, customer and commercial considerations.

Throughout my career, I have led and supported colleagues through organisational change, complex workloads, challenging conversations, competing priorities and difficult commercial situations.

My leadership style is based on clarity, consistency and treating people as individuals. I believe strong leadership means making expectations understandable, giving people the information they need, addressing problems appropriately and creating an environment where questions can be raised without avoiding accountability.

I am also studying towards the CIMA professional qualification, strengthening my existing practical experience through further development in management accounting, business performance and commercial decision-making.

My sessions are designed for people who want grounded and practical leadership support from someone with substantial operational experience. I focus on helping you understand the situation in front of you, make a defensible decision and communicate it clearly.

I recognise that adults communicate, process information and manage pressure differently. Sessions can therefore be adapted through greater structure, written preparation, step-by-step explanations, practical examples or additional processing time where these are useful.

I offer online lessons for new, aspiring and developing managers who want to become more confident without feeling they need to adopt an artificial leadership persona.

I provide practical one-to-one leadership development for new and developing managers who want to lead people with greater confidence, clarity and consistency.

My sessions are grounded in substantial workplace leadership experience rather than generic motivational theory. They are particularly relevant to managers working in finance, credit, accounts receivable, contracts, claims, customer operations and other commercially responsible teams.

Lessons can help you with:

• Moving successfully from team member to manager
• Understanding your responsibilities as a people leader
• Setting clear expectations and holding people accountable
• Delegating work without losing oversight or control
• Prioritising competing operational and people demands
• Preparing for difficult or sensitive workplace conversations
• Addressing underperformance constructively and professionally
• Giving clear, useful and proportionate feedback
• Managing disagreement and conflict within a team
• Building trust while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Communicating decisions that may not be popular
• Managing pressure without creating unnecessary uncertainty for others
• Working effectively with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
• Increasing confidence when contributing to meetings and decisions
• Supporting different communication and working preferences
• Developing a leadership approach that feels credible and sustainable

Sessions are suitable for:

• First-time managers preparing to take responsibility for a team
• Recently promoted managers adjusting to leadership expectations
• Aspiring managers preparing for promotion or interview
• Experienced team leaders facing a specific people-management challenge
• Professionals who want to become clearer and more confident communicators
• Managers who need greater structure around delegation, feedback or accountability

Each session begins by identifying the leadership situation, decision or skill you want to improve. We will examine the relevant context, clarify your responsibilities and break the issue into practical actions.

Depending on your needs, a lesson may include scenario analysis, preparation for a difficult conversation, role-play, feedback on your proposed approach, decision mapping or the creation of a clear action plan.

My approach is professional, direct and constructive. I will not simply reassure you or provide generic encouragement. I will help you examine what is happening, identify what is within your control and choose an appropriate and realistic course of action.

The aim is for you to leave each lesson with greater clarity, practical language you can use and actions that can be applied within your workplace.

These sessions provide leadership development and professional mentoring. They do not replace legal, human-resources, occupational-health or mental-health advice. I will not advise you to disregard your employer’s policies or disclose confidential organisational information.
