About Alice
Hi my name is Alice and I'm a senior at Hunter College High School who plans to study Chemical Engineering in college.
I have been tutoring math and English for the past five years through organizations including SMOA, UPchieve, and the Relume Foundation. During this time, I have worked with students of different ages and learning styles, helping them strengthen their understanding, build confidence, and prepare for challenging exams and competitive school admissions. I've helped students I've worked with ace their entrance exams and gain admission to selective US high schools such as Stuyvesant and Regis High School.
At Hunter, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking a rigorous course load, including AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP English Language, and AP Psychology, earning all 5s on my AP exams. I have also earned a 1500+ SAT score, giving me firsthand experience with the preparation and study strategies needed for demanding academic programs and standardized tests.
Outside of school and tutoring, I enjoy crocheting and rock climbing, and I'm always looking for ways to learn something new.

I believe effective tutoring should be personalized, structured, and focused on building both understanding and confidence. I start by getting to know each student’s goals, current level, and areas they find challenging, then adapt my teaching style to what works best for them.
The first lesson is an introductory assessment. We’ll discuss the student’s goals and expectations, identify areas they want to improve, and complete a short practice assessment to understand their current level. From there, I create a plan tailored to their needs.
A typical tutoring session includes:
- Reviewing core concepts as well as addressing questions from previous lessons
- A short lesson on a concept the student needs help with or is. currently learning at school
- Working through practice problems together
- Assigning targeted practice or homework to reinforce the material
- Reviewing assigned problems at the beginning of the next session
While I use this structure to keep lessons organized and productive, I also keep sessions flexible. If a student has an upcoming test, struggles with a particular concept, or needs help with homework, we can adjust the lesson accordingly.
I’m a senior at a highly selective U.S. high school, giving me firsthand experience with challenging coursework and competitive entrance exams. I focus on making difficult concepts easier to understand while helping students become more confident and independent learners.
I tutor Math through Grade 10, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, SAT, SHSAT, and Hunter College High School entrance exam preparation. I also speak English, French, and Spanish, so I can provide multilingual tutoring for students who prefer learning or asking questions in another language.
