About Ray
Hi! My name is Ray, I’m a 16-year-old transgender HS Senior (he/him), I’ve won multiple math bowl medals, achieved 31 ACT and 720 Math SAT scores, and have consistently made the highest exam scores in my math classes. However, in middle school, I failed Algebra 1 not once, but twice. A combination of terrible absentee teachers and learned helplessness have made me painfully aware of what it’s like to be bottom of the barrel in math. Unlike many tutors, I understand the experience of someone who needs a tutor, and have dedicated many hours to self-teaching and teaching others, reviewing notes and tailoring lessons to students.

I’ve dedicated great amounts of time to teaching myself and others the fundamentals necessary to excel in different math levels and comprehend the skills needed to do well on standardized tests. I will sit down with you and work with you to find where you falter when working on math problems so we can find what fundamentals to build on to strengthen or create your understanding. Struggles with math often start with a bad introductory lesson— we can reform that.
