About Alyssa
I am a senior mathematics major at the University of Georgia with additional coursework in mathematics education, giving me access to a wide library of active learning resources and up-to-date research on mathematics learning. I have had in-class experience as a tutor in both East Jackson Middle School and Clarke Central High School. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and walking my dog Rhubarb!

I take an active learning approach to mathematics. Based upon current research techniques, I aim to reach an understanding of how students think about mathematics and bring that working understanding to deep conceptual mastery through creative lesson planning, typically connecting the mathematics to a subject students find most interesting (particularly with Arts interested students). I have worked privately and in the classroom with students K-12, but specialize in middle grade education (6-8th).
