About Michael
I am a native Chinese tutor and the author of this series of Chinese learning books, all of which were written by me and published in Canada. Over the years, I have taught numerous non-Chinese-speaking students from diverse backgrounds, helping them develop practical skills in speaking, reading, and writing Chinese. Drawing on my extensive teaching experience, I designed these books specifically for adult self-learners, providing a structured and effective pathway to mastering Chinese within a year. In addition to the books, I offer private lessons to guide students through the learning process and help them achieve their language goals more efficiently.

This six-book series is designed as a structured introduction to the Chinese language for adult learners who wish to study independently. The program aims to help dedicated learners develop practical speaking, reading, and writing skills within one year of consistent study.
The books are carefully organized to guide learners from the fundamentals of pronunciation and character recognition to increasingly advanced vocabulary, sentence structures, idioms, and cultural knowledge. Each book builds upon the knowledge gained in the previous volumes, allowing learners to progress systematically and confidently.
In addition to self-study, private lessons are available to provide guidance, clarification, and personalized support. These lessons are designed to complement the books and help learners maximize their progress while maintaining the flexibility of independent learning.
Whether you are learning Chinese for personal enrichment, travel, cultural appreciation, or communication with family and friends, this series provides a practical and comprehensive pathway to mastering the language.
