About Lena
I have 7 years of experience as a singing tutor and hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, specializing in Lieder and Art Song. My teaching focuses on vocal improvisation for jazz and blues singers. I love helping students explore scat singing, melodic embellishment, and advanced harmony to create their own unique sound. My approach balances practical skills like ear training and applying scale and chord theory with creative expression. I believe developing a strong musical understanding is key to confident improvisation. Each lesson is personalized to suit your level and goals, whether you are just starting out or looking to refine your skills. I work closely with students to build solid vocal technique and performance abilities. Together, we focus on unlocking your individual improvisational voice. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and inspired when you sing. Whether you want to improve your jazz runs or add blues flavor to your performances, I am here to guide you every step of the way. My teaching approach focuses on helping singers excel in choral singing and ensemble performance. I emphasize vocal blending, sight-reading, and part-singing to create a smooth, harmonious sound within the group. Each lesson is designed to strengthen your ability to listen and blend with others.
I work well with orchestra members and crossover artists, helping them adapt and integrate easily into choir settings. My goal is to support you in becoming a confident and valuable choir member. We practice techniques that improve pitch accuracy, timing, and musical expression within the ensemble.
Sight-reading skills are an important part of my teaching, so you can quickly learn new music and contribute effectively.
