About Harvey
Hello, my name is Harvey. I’m someone who has always been passionate about learning and I really enjoy sharing that with others. For me, teaching is not just about helping someone understand a topic, but also about building their confidence and showing them that they are capable of achieving more than they might think. I want to teach because I know how much of a difference it can make to have someone who explains things clearly, encourages you when you’re struggling, and celebrates your progress with you. I find it really rewarding to see that moment when something finally clicks, and a student realises they can do it. My goal is to create a supportive and friendly environment where learning feels approachable, and where each student feels comfortable asking questions and exploring ideas. I believe that education should empower people, and I want to help my students not only improve their skills but also enjoy the process of learning along the way.

Qualifications & Experience: I am currently a sixth form student who achieved grade 9 in all GCSE subjects. I have experience working with very young children in a primary school, teaching early literacy and phonics. I have also given piano lessons, with my students achieving distinctions in exams—so I’m used to supporting learners of different ages and abilities. Techniques & Teaching Method: I break topics down into clear, simple steps, helping students to understand why methods work instead of just memorising them. I use worked examples followed by guided practice so that students build confidence before working independently. I adapt lessons to each student’s learning style—whether that’s through practice questions, visual explanations, or interactive discussion. I encourage students to ask questions and explain their thinking, which makes it easier to spot misunderstandings early. Lesson Structure & Length: A typical lesson is 60 minutes, though I can adjust depending on the student’s needs and age. Structure usually follows: - Warm-up/recap of previous work or key skills. - Main teaching with explanations and examples. - Guided practice where the student works through problems with support. - Review & wrap-up, highlighting main takeaways and what to work on next. Who the Lessons Are For: I teach Maths, Further Maths, Biology, and Chemistry up to GCSE level. I’m also experienced in helping younger children build strong foundations in reading, writing, and numeracy. My lessons are suitable for anyone who wants to boost confidence, improve grades, or strengthen their subject knowledge.
