Thanks for clicking on my profile!

My name is Josh. I am a passionate mature age psychology student and tutor at La Trobe University. Minoring in neuroscience and philosophy with a current weighted average mark across all subjects of >85%.

I am a passionate and empathetic tutor who specialises in teaching by journeying with my students, whatever their age, cultural perspective or academic level.

I am currently working as a research assistant on a vision consciousness PhD thesis. I am also the founder and president of the meditation club at La Trobe. I plan on commencing a combined master’s PhD program focusing on consciousness and its clinical applications once I complete my undergraduate degree.

My hobbies and interests include reading, squash, hiking, rock climbing and meditation.

About the lesson

Health & Safety:
• I am fully vaccinated and require students to be vaccinated also.

• I also have a Working With Children Check (WWC).

Teaching methodology:

• As a student of psychology, I believe that learning starts with perspective and mindset. Understanding and solutions are only possible if we can see them.

• Like any form of teaching, Tutoring is a two-way street and requires the tutor and the subject to communicate, learn, and grow together. I pride myself on becoming a better tutor to every student.

Experience:
• I have been tutoring for over 18 months, ever since I started my degree.

Due to my study load and current ongoing students, I am limited on how many new students I can take on per semester. Due to this, please ensure to contact me well before any exams or projects are due.

Tutoring sessions last between 60 and 120 minutes. The minimum is to make it both worthwhile for the student and myself. Anything less than an hour does not allow adequate time for the learning process to get underway. Anything more than two hours leads to burnout and a reduced learning and teaching experience.

On a final note, the most important thing for a Tutor to do is to care. Care curiously and kindly.
