About Sofya

- What kind of experience do you have?

I am an experienced and qualified music teacher and I have been teaching piano and piano theory for 14 years. I am a qualified choir conductor and piano accompanist. I am a graduate of Moscow State Open Pedagogical University of M.A. Sholohov and have worked professionally for 14 years including 10 years in the UK.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes, I am CRB checked.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

My current students range from ages 6-58 with all levels of experience ranging from Beginners, Refreshers and Advanced. I teach children from beginners making it fun whilst taking them through grades for piano and theory through their school years. I teach older clients either wanting to learn from the beginning, wanting to help their children learn, play for enjoyment or refresh their knowledge. I have helped children to gain scholarships for senior school and one of my talented students won ABRSM South Competition.

About the lesson

I am a professional and qualified teacher and pianist. I teach all levels and ages for the purpose of examinations, enjoyment and for refreshing knowledge. I teach all styles classical/jazz/modern.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach Piano and Music Theory from Beginners to Advanced (Grade 1-7). I teach children from the age of 6 as beginners for fun, followed by ABRSM examinations for piano and theory. I teach older clients who want to help with their children's progress, wanting to play for enjoyment and refresh their knowledge from previous experience.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Bachelor of Music degree Moscow/Russia, 1st Class Diploma in Music Teaching and Choral Conducting. Please look at my CV.

- How much do you charge?

My prices for Piano and Piano Theory are; £30 per hour, £25 per 45 minutes, £20 per 30 minutes.

- Where do you teach?

I have a Roland piano at my home so can accommodate my students but can also travel to Brighton Hove on Saturday.

- When are you available?

I have diary positions weekdays 10am to 7pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm. Please contact to check open availability.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all ages and levels.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I usually prepare and enter students for the ABRSM exams but I am happy to enter for Trinity Guildhall exams.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I can teach over skype.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

It is never too early or late to learn the joys of playing the piano. If you want to progress through the grades I can help you get the best out of your ability. If you want learn for enjoyment then I can help you develop your skillset and you will be surprised how good you can be.
