About Leon
My name is Leon and I am a chess player rated 1993 FIDE, 2148 ECF and over 2700 online at speed chess. I started playing chess at 13 and quickly rose from a beginner to over 2000 rated online in under 2 years.
Since then, I have played competitively in chess tournaments across the UK, and became Somerset Chess Champion in 2026. Now I am focused on helping others to improve their ratings and enjoyment of chess.

I offer personal 60-90 minute lessons for students, where I intend to break down complex ideas to give understandable advice that can be applied to your games.
In the free introductory session, we will go through your games and create a plan for improvement strategies. Then, lessons will be structured including explanations of concepts, as well as practical examples from real games and opportunities to play and explore the concept yourself.
Together, we will analyse your games, fix bad habits, and build a personalised plan to steadily raise your rating.
