  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

My journey with Spanish began during my school years at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram. What started as just another subject quickly became my favorite class, largely because of an incredible teacher who made learning feel exciting, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable.

For the first time, I realized that learning a language was not just about memorizing grammar rules or vocabulary lists, but it was about connecting with new cultures, meeting new people, and opening doors to opportunities around the world.

That experience had such a strong impact on me that it eventually inspired me to pursue Spanish academically at university level and later start teaching it myself.

Today, I am pursuing a B.A. (Hons.) in Spanish at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, and I am also the author of Spanish Grammar Simplified.

What I love most about Spanish is that it is one of the few subjects that can completely transform a student's confidence. Whether someone is learning for school, travel, career opportunities, relocation, or personal growth, Spanish allows them to communicate beyond borders and become part of a truly global community.

That same passion my teacher sparked in me years ago is what I bring to every class now, making sure learning feels fun, engaging and never forced.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My biggest motivation is seeing students improve.

There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a student go from saying "I can't do this" to speaking confidently and understanding concepts that once felt difficult.

Teaching allows me to make a real difference in someone's learning journey. Every student learns differently, and I enjoy finding ways to make lessons simpler, more engaging, and more effective for each individual.

The teacher who inspired my love for Spanish also inspired my approach to teaching. She showed me that great teaching is not about making students memorize information but instead it's about making them genuinely enjoy learning.

That is the kind of teacher I strive to be.
  • How does your work help society?

Language is one of the most powerful tools we have. It connects people, cultures, opportunities, and ideas.

Through teaching Spanish, I help students gain a skill that can benefit them academically, professionally, and personally. Some of my students learn Spanish for school, some for university, some for career opportunities, and others simply because they love languages.

Beyond Spanish itself, I believe education builds confidence. When students feel capable of learning something new, they often become more confident in other areas of life as well.

My goal is not only to teach a language but to help learners become more confident, curious, and open to the world around them.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

The person who inspired me the most was my own Spanish teacher.

She had a unique ability to make learning feel effortless and enjoyable. Even difficult concepts felt approachable and fun because of the way she explained them.

What I admired most was not just her knowledge, but her ability to make students genuinely excited about learning.

That experience taught me that the best teachers are not necessarily the ones who know the most but they are the ones who know how to inspire others.

I try to bring that same approach into my own classes by creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside teaching, I love learning languages, travelling, reading, and working on my educational brand.

I also enjoy creating educational resources such as presentations, assignments, notes, and study materials. While many people see these as work, I genuinely enjoy designing resources that make learning easier and more enjoyable for students.

I have always been a creative person, so I also enjoy activities like painting, journaling, and exploring new ideas related to education and content creation.

Most of my hobbies revolve around learning, creativity, and finding new ways to help students succeed.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One of the most rewarding parts of my teaching journey has been working with students from very different backgrounds.

Over time, I have taught school students, college students, working professionals, adult learners, and even international students from countries such as the United States, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, and India.

One thing I have learned is that regardless of age, background, or nationality, most students share the same fear when starting a new language, they worry that they are "not good at languages."

Watching those same students gradually gain confidence, participate actively in class, and start speaking Spanish comfortably is one of the most satisfying parts of my work.

Whether I am teaching a school student preparing for exams, a working professional learning for career opportunities, or an international learner exploring a new language, seeing that growth and confidence develop is what makes teaching so rewarding for me.
