Clara is a brilliant teacher. I signed up for one module with her in summer 2023. I was already committed to taking the subsequent module elsewhere, but despite the fact that Clara knew I had no plans to return to her, she was completely committed to helping me achieve my goals. I felt so confident and comfortable in her teaching that I returned to her in January 2024 for weekly lessons and haven’t looked back.

Clara is flexible with her teaching and adapts to the needs/wants of the students with whom she is working. She preps lessons in advance and comes prepared for each class, but she has a wealth of resources to hand, so if the lesson moves in an unexpected direction or if you/she spot(s) an area that needs work, she can quickly pivot, find exercises and have you feeling much more confident in whichever area needs work by the end of the lesson.

Clara’s passion for language is infectious and makes classes fun. She speaks excellent English so there is no need for beginners or anxious learners to worry that everything will be in Spanish (unless you want it to be). And having lived in the UK, her translations and explanations are thorough because she understands our culture and how we use language.

As a native speaker who currently lives in Spain, I also appreciate the direct link with Spanish culture which Clara offers, and the fact that she can give me up-to-date information (for example, what you call a cycle lane or how you say that something is trending on social media!) in a way that other teachers in the past haven’t been able to.

How do I say this without gushing? Clara is a fantastic teacher. She and I have been having lessons for 18 months and I love my lessons with her. My preference is to chat in Spanish over the phone rather than to do more formal leaning. This works brilliantly, as her English is perfect, so she can chat and correct me as we go or tell me the correct word I’m looking for without breaking the flow of conversation. Clara now feels like a great friend! But I know that she is also amazing at leading structured sessions with grammar exercises etc which may suit other people more. Can’t recommend her enough.

Also much cheaper than the lessons many language schools charge in the UK so significantly higher quality
