About Igor

I find it rewarding to learn languages and gain understanding of other cultures.
I am interested in the ways in which people’s wellbeing can be enhanced through education, fitness and mindfulness. I believe education is a catalyst in bringing about positive change.

I also enjoy exercise, yoga, meditating and reading.

I particularly enjoy reading fiction books by Isabel Allende, Khaled Hosseini and Ben Elton.

About the lesson

As an enthusiastic, passionate educator with a proven teaching background, it is with great excitement that you're considering me as your tutor. In addition to my career achievements, my hands-on experiences make me an excellent match for the unique demands of the Languages Tutor role.

My educational philosophy is a learner-centred approach in which students develop their subject knowledge through cycles of inquiry, action and reflection. Students are active participants in the learning process and my aim is to cultivate a love of learning a foreign language.

I am a dedicated languages teacher qualified to teach Spanish and German to students aged 11-18. Firm believer that education is a catalyst in bringing about positive change, being strongly committed to supporting and inspiring students in safe, inclusive learning environments.

I have more than three years' experience teaching Spanish in secondary schools in England and Wales. Additionally, I have been tutoring online for the last year supporting students in improving their grades and language efficiency. I have supported students with their GCSE exams for both AQA and Edexcel, and A level exams.
I qualified as a languages teacher at the University of Bristol, a top 10 UK University, rated "Outstanding" by Ofsted. This course was underpinned by excellent research and I spent two thirds of my time on placement.

I currently work at an inner-London school rated as "Outstanding" by Ofsted. I teach Spanish under AQA exam board.

My lessons are underpinned by retrieval practice. I believe that it is not about memorising facts or words, but about being given the opportunity to use, manipulate and produce new language in a safe environment. We will always have a starter activity which will encourage you to retrieve learning from the previous lesson; we will then go through a set of activities that will allow you to assimilate new grammar points and language through practice. Finally, we will conclude with quizzes and plenaries which will cement the new knowledge.

I use online platforms such as SENECA and Exam pro. Additionally, I believe learning games are at the heart of successful lessons-- learning can indeed be fun. I use games such as Linguascope, Blooket, Kahoot to cement the knowledge acquired.
