I have taught Spanish for more than 20 years, both in groups and in One-to-One lessons in the UK, U.S.A. and in China.

About the lesson

I am a Spanish native speaker from Chile. I use videos, photos, and even cartoons to make sure every class is not simply a language class, but rather a complete culture class, offering a view into the literature, history and the everyday life of Spanish America and Spain.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

Spanish Language and Spanish American Literature.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Graduate Certificate in Spanish Language Teaching to Adults (GCSLTA) from The University of Roehampton of London and Instituto Cervantes of Spain. I also hold a PHD degree in Spanish American Literature and BAs in Journalism and Sociology.
For 20 years I have been a consultant for the United Nations in countries such as Paraguay, Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile and as a journalist I have worked for several media in Latin America and Spain. I am familiar with most of the communication forms or speeches used in the different regions of Spain and Spanish America

- How much do you charge?

My fee is £35 an hour. For group lessons, I charge £30 for the first person, £20 for additional persons. Group lessons cannot have more than 5 students.

- Where do you teach?

I teach through the Zoom App.

- When are you available?

Every day, any time.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I have taught all ages and standards. I am happy to teach Spanish to any level.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

Classes via Zoom permit better lessons. I use many interactive tools, show films and videos, things that are not possible to do in face to face lessons because everyone would have to take a laptop or a tablet to the course. Students value this a lot.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I believe tutoring must be adapted to what each specific person requires. Someone who is going on a trip and wants to learn a few basic things to get by has very different needs to those of a high-level professional who plans to work in a Spanish-speaking country, in which case the learner needs to develop Spanish language skills in a variety of areas, from professional requirements, to day-to-day life, administrative tasks, and others.
Once familiar with the needs of the learner, together we can make a bespoke plan to satisfy your requirements.
The subject matters covered during my lessons depend essentially on your goals. Lessons will be fully focussed on your needs and on your desired objectives. I am happy to teach the Spanish language at any level, age group or level of proficiency.

Rebeca has been a very capable student, with a special intuition for languages. She already speaks Spanish with great precision. We were able to study and practice a Spanish related to her interest: Mexico and Latin America, including its culture and literature.
