About Haldun
With over 20+ years of experience of teaching and supporting young people in mainstream secondary education, I provide high-quality, personalised maths tuition.
As well as inner city secondaries, I worked for a London Borough of Hackney for eight years, teaching Emotional Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA) students 1:1 and in online groups as well as supporting their families.
Tutoring has always been a part of my career in education and I have a proven track record in helping young people achieve their target grades and continue on their educational journey.
I specialise not only in improving mathematical understanding and examination performance, but also in supporting learners who require a more individualised approach.
I am passionate about helping students to become confident in their own maths; realise that maths is not about being "naturally good" at the subject. With the right support, structure and encouragement, every student can make meaningful progress.
I am fully DBS checked and provide a calm, supportive and structured learning environment, whether lessons take place online, at my home, in a library setting or at the student's home.

My lessons are carefully tailored to each student's needs, learning style and goals.
I begin by identifying strengths, misconceptions and knowledge gaps before creating a personalised learning plan. Lessons balance conceptual understanding, problem-solving and exam technique, ensuring students gain both confidence and results. They are often maths conversations aimed at helping the learner trust and build on their own way of doing maths.
For SEN, EHE and EBSNA learners, I place particular emphasis on building trust, reducing anxiety and creating a positive relationship with mathematics and education in general.
My lessons often involve puzzles and challenges and the pace of the lesson is determined by the confidence of the learner.
Parents receive regular feedback and progress updates so they can clearly see how their child is developing.

I worked with Haldun and saw his group and 1:1 lessons inspire the whole range of students - from those who struggled with Maths, to those set to achieve the highest grades. Haldun can identify a student's sticking points quickly, and help them not just to plug the gaps, but to become good mathematical thinkers. I have used techniques he recommended and seen my students become more confident at mathematical problem-solving. My GCSE level daughter and I were introduced to Haldun by another parent. My daughter had been diagnosed with dyscalculia and struggled with maths all through primary and secondary school.
