10 years playing and studying the Steelpan - an acoustic instrument made from an oil drum originating in the Caribbean.
4 years directing a professional Steelband in Melbourne Victoria.
Accomplished teacher of steelpan playing with students going on to start their own group/s.

Steelband, Steelpans and the musical culture of Trinidad & Tobago.
Private musical tuition using steelpans is already hugely successful in America,
music is taught to a group without the teaching constraints of players all being on different instruments.
Steelpans do not require an immediate minimum level of physical skill to play so the students are able to grasp the music more rapidly.
The sound of a steelband can be as dynamic as a symphony orchestra and as simple as a group of grade 1 students playing for the first time on stage.
No sheet music knowledge is required at entry level!

Details
Instruments will be provided at a maximum 6 students per travelling lesson, with facilities for larger groups available for those attending the panyard. Minimum lesson - 2 hours.
