About Sydney

As a current university student (junior) majoring in biomedical sciences, I have taken many in-depth math and science classes throughout my academic career that have put my knowledge to the test. In high school, I took multiple honors and AP science classes, in addition to taking dual-enrollment college classes for several other subjects, often ending at the top of the class. So far, I have passed all my classes with A’s (in both high school and college), and I frequently work with my peers to help them do the same. Additionally, I received several honors and distinctions from both my professors and the school, recognizing my talent and intellect. I have tutored others in geometry before and love working with people. I have been told that I am personable, approachable, and welcoming, and that I have a gift for connecting with anyone. Ideally, I strive to make the learning experience easy for everyone, and hopefully, by using humor and dialogue with my students, enjoyable too! Ultimately, my passion for math and science and my desire to help others find the same is one of my defining qualities.

About the lesson

My focus with students is to help them learn in a fun and engaging way, allowing them to grasp the core concepts but leave with a desire to know more. Even if math isn't your favorite subject, I strive to give you a solid foundation in these topics and how to apply them so that you can walk into your exam (and the world) with confidence. If you prefer online tutoring and are looking for someone passionate about math and science, then this is the right spot for you!!

My teaching approach:
Once I hear from the students what their needs and expectations are related to class specifics, timelines, and topics to focus on, I work with them to cater my lessons to their individual learning styles. I often include humor and dialogue with the students in my approach, such as through funny associations and mnemonics to help them remember the sometimes obscure details of the subject. If students have any problem areas, I am happy to work with them by explaining it further or in a different way, breaking it down into simpler and digestible pieces, and/or using additional resources and practice problems. It's best if students have more specific questions, focus areas, or preexisting resources from their classes to bring to our meetings, but I am happy to work in a more generalized way if these aren't available.

I am available most days and have flexible hours, including evenings (PDT), so please don't hesitate to reach out for more information or if you'd like to get started.
