About Jeremiah

I have skated on and off since I was 8. I am now 25 working with the ATO. I grew up in a small town with a pretty bare skatepark so my experience is in street skateboarding. But I also used to longboard for transport when living in Sydney and can give you the confidence to cruise the road/sidewalk and down hills and braking at high speeds (only when I think you are ready, and always wearing a helmet). I have enjoyed teaching my friends, with little skating experience, to Ollie and drop in, and to be careful yet fearless on the slopes. And have now been giving formal lessons for a year. Skateboarding is hard, but with a little guidance and a lot of practice, you can make a lot of progress and have a lot of fun. Also if you are looking to use it for transport to the bus/train station, to work/uni, skateboarding is ideal and the board is small and easy to take on and off public transport or sit in the class/office.

About the lesson

Get on the board (time and practice). I will give careful instruction and demonstration. Always taking baby steps, always encouraging and never attempting the next step until you have the required skill base. Hoping always to have fun. Note that skateboarding is a dangerous sport, and while we can decrease the risk and severity of injury by wearing protective gear and by exercising caution (not being reckless and attempting things we are not ready for), we cannot eliminate the chance of injury. This is mainly a bruise on the hip or graze on the knee (if not wearing knee pads) from falling to the cement, or a sore shin from being hit by the rotating board. This is part of skateboarding, and we continue to hurt ourselves at all levels of ability (frequency depending on the activity).
