About Joseph
I am a graduate of the University of Sheffield with a degree in Structural Engineering and Architectural Studies. My degree has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of higher-level maths, thus assuring my capability of teaching to GCSE level. During 6th Form I held a teaching assistant role in my free periods, providing support to the lower years during their maths lessons. I also have experience working in multidisciplinary teams for a range of projects within my degree. This has allowed me to understand and appreciate the different learning styles and approaches students may have. I would love the opportunity to give back the knowledge and skills gained during my experience to provide students with support through maths tutoring.

I would approach my lessons by prioritising specific topics that the student may want to focus on. By going through a topic in a step by step manner, I can gauge the student’s competence with the area. This would then allow me to go through worked examples tailored to their ability regarding the specific topic. These examples would build their confidence and understanding in order to eventually tackle more challenging questions in that area. In doing so, more challenging questions will ensure the student is confident with the topic before moving on to a new area. Recapping over past topics may also be used at the start of each lesson to reinforce the knowledge learned from previous lessons.
