Education is a heavy passion of mine and I desire to assist every student reach their potential. I will help with homework, but my main goal is your student's future.

About the lesson

As one who suffered as a child, and in some ways still today, with dyslexia, I made it my goal to find help. When choosing a topic for my Master Thesis in school, I knew I wanted to dig into the history and helpful techniques that worked for me, but may also work for others. Now my study is in the process of being published.

Your student (and you the parent if you choose to sit in also) will learn some important signs of what to look for when determining if your student may suffer from dyslexia. [Note - this will not be an official diagnosis]. Your student will also be introduced to a number of techniques that can assist, such as:
- reading on colored paper
- reading upside down
- proper fonts and sizes, and
- the addition of music for rhythm and stability

My lessons are structured to remove any embarrassment from the child. I will work as assist each student with methods specific to him/her after the student has the opportunity to demonstrate and talk about their own concerns. All manner of conversation will also only be to build up the student.

Students can bring homework for help, but I desire to be more than a homework-helper. I will show your student how to be successful, coaching them to confidence and victory. I guarantee your student's grades will rise. Students will interact via discussion and online activities, including and specifically reading. Each session will work to introduce a new method or two, and then practice time in the class for the student to determine if this method helps them and ask any related questions. As needed, students will also watch pre-approved video clips related to methods to overcome dyslexia.
