About Aissata

My main job really is to build my students up. Many students struggle with math due to a lack of confidence. As a math tutor, I focus on creating a learning environment that is tailored to each student's needs, fostering both conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. As to my teaching methods and lesson plans I believe that true mastery of math comes from understanding the "why" behind the formulas and procedures. I aim to connect abstract concepts to real-life applications to make math feel more relevant and intuitive.I recognize that each student has a unique learning pace. Some may need extra time on fundamental concepts, while others may require faster pacing. I adjust the lessons accordingly to meet the student where they are. To make math more relevant, I incorporate examples from various fields like engineering, economics, physics, or computer science. Showing how math applies to the real world can spark students' interest and motivation.

Lesson Plan:
Here’s an outline of a typical lesson structure, which can be adjusted based on the student’s needs and progress:

Introduction (5-10 minutes):
Brief review of the previous lesson or homework, including questions or difficulties the student encountered.
Recap of key concepts to ensure they are understood.
Concept Introduction (10-15 minutes):
Introduce new material with a brief explanation and visual aids (diagrams, graphs, etc.).
Work through examples together, demonstrating problem-solving techniques step-by-step.Encourage the student to explain the steps and reasoning behind each solution.
Guided Practice (15-20 minutes):
Provide a set of problems for the student to work through, offering guidance as necessary.
Focus on reinforcing the specific concept being taught while also encouraging independent thinking.
Address any questions the student has and clarify any confusion.
Independent Practice (10-15 minutes):
Allow the student to complete problems on their own while I observe and provide support as needed.
This allows me to assess their understanding and highlight any areas that may need further review.Wrap-Up (5-10 minutes):
Review the key takeaways from the lesson and provide additional practice if needed.
Summarize important concepts and outline next steps or the topic for the next lesson.
Discuss any homework or self-study strategies for continued practice.

Finally, what sets me apart as a Math Tutor is I focus on Building Confidence because many students struggle with math due to a lack of confidence. I make it a priority to create a safe, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. Success in math often comes from perseverance, and I encourage a growth mindset that embraces challenges as opportunities for improvement.

The tutor sessions are for students 6th grade-11th. Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, as well as Math for College Algebra.
