In teaching I would aim not to simply teach the student the mechanical method of playing the piano, but also give an understanding of how the music works by discussion. My methodology would be to get my students as passionate about the music as I am, so that they will be motivated by genuine interest. I would augment this with exercises and scales generally following ABRSM grades.
I’ve played for two years in a performing piano duo (and solo) in Junior Royal Northern Collage of Music. I have previously tutored a student in beginner piano and music theory, as well as teaching intermediate bass guitar lessons. I am passionate and have a natural understanding of Classical music which I can pass on to my students.
While completing my A levels, which include an A in music, I studied at the Royal Northern Collage of Music. There I was taught both solo and duo piano by two accomplished pianists, who's teaching styles I try to emulate. I performed regularly and obtained my grade 8 with a distinction. I have for the past two years been studying music at the University of Huddersfield. My past experience includes teaching several younger students beginner piano, including my little brother, however my skills are diverse enough that I could teach up to approximately grade 6.
