About James
My name is James, and I am a student at the University of Melbourne studying Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. I grew up in Perth, where I graduated high school, and have moved to Melbourne for University, where I attend Ormond College. My main interests are playing sport, reading, and trying new things. From a young age, I have been inspired by Mathematics, in both its elegance and the variety of applications it has to society. I believe that it is due to my fundamental love of the subject, and learning in general, that I seek to provide lessons that both not only impart knowledge to my students, but build a curiosity within them that inspires them to strive for success within their academics.

My approach to teaching is first to gauge the students level of understanding in the subject matter. Throughout subsequent lessons, I tailor my tuition to work on areas requiring improvement, building understanding through applied problems, and working at a pace comfortable for the student. I also provide lessons emphasizing exam preparation.
My lessons can range in length, but I recommend lessons of 1 - 1.5 hours, to allow for sufficient content to be taught whilst upholding student engagement.
My qualifications as a tutor include graduating as the Dux of my High School, receiving subject prizes in Mathematics Specialist, Physics, Chemistry, and History, and receiving an ATAR of 99.60. Moreover, I have maintained an average mark of 91% during my first year of university.
I have over two years of experience in mathematics tutoring, and I have tutored students across a range of ages and skill levels. As such, my lessons are available to all students, from those seeking support in their studies to those aiming to refine their knowledge and exam techniques.
