About Tate
Hi! My name is Tate, and I'm undertaking VCE Japanese.
I hope to teach beginners the foundations of Japanese to give them the head start I didn't have when I begun my Japanese learning journey. I also want to inspire them to step out of their comfort zones and try a language they've never spoken before.
I have a passion for languages and linguistics, and I love to meet many different kinds of people and connect through culture and language. When I graduate I plan to study linguistics full time.
When I began learning Japanese, I was thrown into a classroom of students with 2+ years of experience on me, but I was able to catch up after vigorous studying. I want to be able to provide the one-on-one teaching I didn't have back then.
I'm going to Japan at the end of this year for a culture exchange, so teaching Japanese to beginners is great practice for me too!

Japanese can seem hard to approach for English speakers, but I can provide a head start in learning Japanese for all beginners interested in Japanese language.
I can coach a range of things, such as Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji, pronunciation, grammar, writing, speaking and listening.
The lessons will be about an hour of in-depth tutoring to focus on each individual student's weaknesses and strengths.
The lessons are for absolute beginners or people just starting out learning Japanese. The lessons are based on N5 Japanese. The learning material is based on IITomo Japanese.
