About Alicia

Hi there!

I'm Alicia, I'm 18 years old and I start studying this July in polytechnic. I live in Melbourne, and I have started to recently get back into music. I write songs and write the music for it too. I want to teach piano to people because it connects them to a beautiful part of life. Music is such a privilege we have and I want to share it with you all.

Learning piano is an easy way to get started and when I started playing the piano classically, I had found a new appreciation for musicians because of the amount of tears, hard effort, determination and practise that takes place in their heart.

I would say that my teaching is more fun and education-based, rather than exam-based, I just don't want the class to be boring; if I'm bored, then my student is probably bored too. I am new to tutoring but I will try my best to be a great teacher and to be helpful. Hopefully every lesson you'll have learnt something new that you can keep to heart day-by-day.

About the lesson

Hi there!

I'll be teaching people who want to start learning as a beginner how to play and lock in the basics of piano. Young to old, or whatever differences we may have, I'll still gladly want to help you learn and grow!

My lessons may range from 30min to 1.5hrs, just let me know about what time is suitable for your schedule.

I will be teaching all theory, sight-reading, general knowledge, aural and anything else you would like to know. I will have a piano to be able to showcase demonstrations, exercises and to help assist you with anything. I don't want you to feel like it's just a trivial class, but rather a learning experience! You will still get the periodic homework assignments though, trust me they help in the future!!

I've studied music in Melbourne for 12 years and took a break from it until I turned 18 and started getting back into music to produce it. I did some exams, (not sure about the levels since it was a long time ago, maybe 6 or 7), but I focus less on classical and traditional music and more on my own or my generation's style of music. I still adore classical and traditional and will be able to help with that, if that's more your cup of tea!
