About James
I hold a PhD in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame (USA), I've worked as a university lecturer in the US, Germany, France, and New Zealand, and as a research scientist in biomedical technology for the French Government. I'm currently a technical advisor and consultant on operational processes in industry (making use of operations research, statistics, and programming). I love teaching and I love developing students intellectually. My lessons have more of a "training" feel to them and a dominant aspect of my approach is bringing students into a growth mindset -- we game plan, develop our math IQ, and we beat problems up. Due to my consulting and research work I am unable to offer a free initial 1-hour session, but we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss what you are looking for, and what you need.

Lessons are largely determined by your needs and interests; for example, I am available for High school VCE background theory, problem solving and performance training. Bachelor's degree background theory, problem solving and performance training. Master's level background theory, or problem-specific conceptualization. Extracurricular mathematics training, including interests in Mathematics through computing and programming. Interests in higher-level mathematics: Real and Functional Analysis, Differential Geometry, Mathematical Methods in Classical mechanics. Lessons are typically 1 hour, but longer sessions can be arranged. I am available in person (this mode is preferable and achieves better outcomes) and online. Due to my consulting and research contracts I am unable to give free trial lessons, but we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to determine what you are looking for and what works for you.
