I'm Aaron, a passionate, classically-trained composer with over 20 years of teaching experience. My mission is to share my love for music and guide you on your unique musical journey. As a composer and theorist with decades of experience teaching students in private lessons and classrooms, I can tailor lessons to your needs.
Students can get individual feedback on counterpoint and voice-leading, compositional techniques, theory terms. I want students to get what they want out of lessons, so I make sure to tailor individual student needs into my lesson plans.
I make sure to also use my expertise to fill in knowledge gaps when students need them, and try to begin lessons with direct feedback on a student's work.

I got to know Aaron both as a graduate student and as TA for my songwriting course at the University of Virginia. He assisted students with a wide variety of projects, involving both performance and music theory. He has a thorough knowledge of music theory, a broad range of teaching experience and a very approachable manner.
I have known Aaron for almost 20 years as he studied music and trombone, worked as long term sub in a high school band with me, and developed his composing skills. I have played several pieces he has written and commissioned a work for our honor band event with him.
