About Joe
Hi! I’m currently going into my third year studying Mathematics at Durham University. I’ve always had a passion for numbers and problem-solving. I earned top grades, with 9s in both Maths and Further Maths at GCSE, and A*s in both subjects at A-level. Beyond academics, I genuinely enjoy mentoring because I love helping others unlock their potential and gain confidence in subjects that can sometimes feel challenging. I believe I have a good ability to explain concepts in lots of different ways to help you understand it. I was never someone who just "understood maths" and had to work hard to understand a lot of concepts. With this I can teach you how to think about new topics and learn new content easier. I bring over five years of experience coaching and mentoring young people in sport, which has taught me patience, communication skills, and the importance of tailored guidance. These values strongly influence my tutoring approach: I believe in creating a supportive and encouraging environment you'll grasp concepts and actually understand "why?". I’m dedicated to helping you not only improve your maths skills but also develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the subject. Outside of Maths, I've always had a big devotion to sport, I've played volleyball to a high level my whole life but also enjoy football, cricket and rugby.

I focus on creating a supportive, engaging environment where students feel confident to ask questions and explore ideas. I tailor each session to the student’s goals and learning style—breaking down complex topics into manageable steps and using real examples to build understanding. A typical lesson lasts around 1 hour, with the option to extend if needed for exam prep or deeper revision. I'm going into my 3rd year studying Mathematics at Durham University and have 5 years’ experience coaching and mentoring young people. I’m used to explaining concepts clearly and adapting to different learning needs. My lessons are ideal for GCSE and A Level Maths and Further Maths students who want to improve their understanding, boost their grades, or prepare for exams with confidence.
